100% Foothills - volume 1 began with the donation of over 100 photographs of landscapes and wildlife within the Foothills Alberta region. Mr. Kirk Davis of Alternate Communications in High River approached the Foothills AIM Society with the idea of creating a presentation CD which included select samples of his work over the years as an avid photography enthusiast. He further suggested that his friend, local musician and songwriter, James Lee Hitchner, would donate select songs from his album release, "Highwood Country Home". The purpose would be the opportunity to generate a revenue for the Foothills Advocacy In Motion Society and The Salvation Army - High River through sales of this product. With these resources, the AIM Society utilized Technology and volunteers to begin scripting a CD which included navigation schemes to allow selecting specific songs, and to browse forward and backward through the presentation. After much dedicated production time, and several variations in design, the CD in its current version was premiered for the AIM Society Fundraising & New Initiatives (FNI) Committee, a representative of The Salvation Army - High River, Mr. Kirk Davis, and Mr. James Lee Hitchner. It was agreed that the CD was ready for production, and that the AIM Society and The Salvation Army - High River would have the opportunity to market the CD in order to generate revenues for their respective organizations after first recouping the initial production costs. The Foothills AIM Society began a marketing strategy with the volunteers on their FNI Committee even as they commissioned Canada Disc & Tape to produce 2,000 copies of the CD, complete with silk screened labels, and encased in shrink wrapped slim-line jewel cases. This reproduction company was very gracious in providing prompt and professional service, plus an additional 100 copies, at a discounted rate to assist in the fundraising endeavours. Since the packaged CD's first arrived, AIM Society has premiered it at trade shows and farmers' markets, and joined with supporting Community Partners to display the CD's on their shelves. As AIM Society strongly believes in "Connecting Persons to Community" in their service provision to adults with developmental disabilities, and further believes in a self-help work ethic to assist in funding their service delivery, they were willing to undertake this fundraising project after thorough review. A final stipulation, however, to lend to the success of this project is that it will be a "Limited Edition". Once these CD's have sold there will not be another production of "100% Foothills - volume 1". For computer enthusiasts, and those with an appreciation of nature, and those who enjoy original country music, 100% Foothills - volume 1 will provide an enjoyable experience and attractive addition to anyone's CD collection. |
